Linotype

Typographic consultant (since 2002).

OpenType font development, language research and multilingual consulting.

Linotype GmbH is one of world’s most prominent font manufacturers and distributors. It is a subsidiary of Monotype Imaging and is located in Bad Homburg, near Frankfurt (Main), Germany. It operates worldwide and offers an extensive library of more 3,000 computer fonts, including all-time favourites such as Helvetica, Optima, Palatino, Frutiger or Univers.

I had worked with Linotype on several projects that included OpenType font development, consulting in multilingual typography, development of custom FontLab scripting solutions, project management. In November 2003, I created the OpenType versions of Zapfino Extra LT Pro, a re-designed version of Hermann Zapf’s typeface Zapfino. I also consulted on the design of diacritic characters for Zapfino Extra LT Pro, Helvetica Linotype, and some other Linotype fonts.
